I was expecting IK to improve their actual underlying mathematical model this time out to correct certain deficiencies with AT2 & JH (no frequency content whatsoever above 10k unless you're using shredding distortion, with corresponding lack of detail) and as far as i can hear and have read on their site, they didn't. I'm still torn about this and debating it with myself, but i think i will. Strangely enough, demoing AT3 made me decide, against every financial incentive (I have AT2, SVX & Jimi Hendrix) to just finally bite the bullet and go for Softube's amp bundle. Along with Trillian, I have to put Amp 3 in the 'gold standard' list now. I have no idea how they do this stuff, but I'm really glad they did it.Д¬ompletely agree with you. It is all very familiar and nostalgic and I can get what I want out of it quite quickly. It has sounds, and effects, but it doesn't sound like anything I recognize where Amplitube, OTOH, is like reacquiring all the gear I've owned over the years and then some. GR, OTOH has no clean tones (what they call clean is crunchy) and the models sound like caricatures of the amps they claim to be - like a mid range multi-effects unit. The electroharmonix emulations (electric mistress, small stone, memory man) are dead on, the amps sound killer, being able to swap tubes is way cool (I favor Eе…ѓ4s in my stuff and picking this option and hearing it do what I expected made me very happy). I spent half the day playing with both and Amplitube 3 is hands down the winner. I just got it installed, and coincidentally installed Komplete 6 with Guitar Rig 4. I also advise running it 'always in real-time' (or 'default to real-time') if you're on a PPC machine - otherwise, when the plug-in first sees incoming audio, it canД®mit a loud pop, and a huge CPU spike will occur. The plug-in launches with preferences set to high resolution and oversampling on everything, so if you're on a PPC Mac, the CPU hit is close to 45%, I'dДЄdvise turning off Hi-resolution, hi-res on the speaker emulators, and oversampling on everything except perhaps the pedals. So that's why I didn't see a mention of it.
